In 2007, Barry and Catherine Saad founded TRUCK TECH in Sydney. Barry began servicing breakdowns from the back of his Ute, and Catherine did all the rest – picking up parts, invoicing customers, and paying the bills. His brother Mark, also a mechanic, joined TRUCK TECH in 2010. Barry and Mark opened a small garage behind the house, and as the business grew, they moved to a large shed, and then to a single workshop with a few bays.
Today, TRUCK TECH has over 140 employees, two-thirds of whom are highly qualified technicians and mechanics. It is Australia’s leading independent provider of heavy vehicle fleet maintenance. We have mechanics and technicians working in our customer’s workshops, at our customer’s sites, in four state-of-the-art workshops near Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Newcastle, and over 50 service vehicles/technicians providing break-down and on-site services along the eastern seaboard. We are certified as a Great Place to Work® and have been shortlisted as a finalist for two 2025 Automotive Industry Awards: Best Large Automotive Business – Metropolitan Victoria and Employer of the Year. From doing simple vehicle repairs out of Barry’s service Ute, TRUCK TECH has evolved to be a comprehensive, highly valued fleet maintenance partner for transport operators across Australia.
