The TRUCK TECH Story

In 2007, Barry and Catherine Saad founded TRUCK TECH in Sydney. Barry began servicing breakdowns from the back of his Ute, and Catherine did all the rest – picking up parts, invoicing customers, and paying the bills. He opened a small garage behind the house, and as business grew, moved to a large shed, and then to a single workshop with a few bays.

Today, TRUCK TECH has over 140 employees, two-thirds of whom are highly qualified technicians and mechanics. It is Australia’s leading independent provider of heavy vehicle fleet maintenance. We have mechanics and technicians working in our customer’s workshops, at our customer’s sites, in four state-of-the-art workshops near Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Newcastle, and over 50 service vehicles/technicians providing break-down and on-site services along the eastern seaboard. We are certified as a Great Place to Work® and have been shortlisted as a finalist for two 2025 Automotive Industry Awards: Best Large Automotive Business – Metropolitan Victoria and Employer of the Year. From doing simple vehicle repairs out of Barry’s service Ute, TRUCK TECH has evolved to be a comprehensive, highly valued fleet maintenance partner for transport operators across Australia.

TRUCK TECH Values
"We believe that every company with fleets of 50 or more heavy vehicles should have access to a proactive fleet maintenance solution and well-trained technicians that enable their vehicles to be safe, compliant, and operate at peak performance. Fewer accidents, more drivers returning home safely, increased uptime for vehicles, and more goods being transported are positive outcomes for our customers, communities, and the economy."

Our Values

1

Don’t F%&@! the customer

We are obsessed with our customers; our relationship with them is everything. We care about our customers’ vehicles as if they were our own (i.e., if we wouldn’t pay for it, neither should they). We proactively deliver a service that we believe in, and we are continually developing solutions that meet our customers' needs.
2

Safe work, safe mind, safe community

We understand that what we do (or don’t do) affects the safety of each other, our customers, their drivers and our communities. See something unsafe? Say or do something about it. Why? Because we genuinely care about the physical and mental well-being of our team members, our customers, their drivers, and our communities.
3

Blameless Problem Solving

When we identify a problem, we don't blame. We work together as a team to figure out what’s caused the problem, then develop a solution. We encourage long-term solutions over short-term “fixes”. Quality solutions are at the forefront of everything we do in the workshop, at our customers’ sites, and in all other departments of our company.
4

Say it? Do it! No bullshit

Fix it first; fix it right. We take the time to get clear instructions, and if we don’t know or understand, we ask. We then commit and follow through. We are honest, transparent, and we hold ourselves accountable for the quality of work that we’re expected to do. We communicate clearly and lead by example.
5

Embrace the adventure

We are disruptors. Not everything we do will be successful, but we don't quit or beat ourselves up. We use successes and failures as opportunities to learn and grow, and we share the learnings with each other so we can all get smarter, faster and empower our team, our customers and our company to continually evolve and be the best.
